The intake and admission process at Athena Behavioral Health is designed to be as smooth and efficient as possible. All prospective clients at our substance abuse treatment facility must undergo a comprehensive intake assessment conducted over the phone by our trained staff. This assessment aims to collect personal information and medical and substance use history to ensure that the treatment program is suitably customized to provide the best care for the client.

What to expect during the intake assessment?

  • During the intake assessment, our trained staff will ask you a series of questions about your:
  • Personal information, such as your name, age, date of birth, address, and phone number
  • Contact information for your emergency contact
  • Medical history, including any current or past medical conditions, allergies, and medications you are taking
  • Substance use history, including which substances you use, how often you use them, and how long you have been using them
  • Any other relevant information, such as your social history, employment status, and legal history

How the intake assessment is used?

The information gathered during the intake assessment is used to develop a personalized treatment plan for each client. This plan will take into account the client’s specific needs and goals, as well as any co-occurring medical or mental health conditions.

Once the intake assessment is complete

Once the intake assessment is complete, it will be reviewed by our clinical team. If the client is approved for treatment, our Intake Consultant will schedule a date for their admission. The client needs to arrive at the facility on the set admission date to start the treatment.

Admission day

On admission day, the client will be greeted by a staff member who will give them a tour of the facility and introduce them to their treatment team. The client will also be given a medical and psychological assessment, and they will have the opportunity to meet with their therapist to discuss their treatment plan.

Starting treatment

Treatment at our facility typically begins with detoxification, which is the process of safely withdrawing from substances of abuse. Once the client is detoxified, they will begin individual and group therapy sessions. These sessions will help them to understand their addiction, develop coping skills, and create a relapse prevention plan.
